We are able to arrange the following one day safaris, cultural tours, day hikes, travel and other trekking packages to start from Moshi town. These tours are designed to offer visitors, with a free day on hand, a choice between different one day wildlife safaris, cultural tours or day hikes up Mt Kilimanjaro. Since all our safaris are arranged as private safaris, our tour starting dates are flexible as per your requirements.

Arusha National Park

One of the most beautiful and topographically varied game reserves in Tanzania. The 3 most significant features include the rugged Mount Meru, the notably different coloured Momela Lakes and the 3km wide Ngurdoto crater. Wildlife that can be seen in the park include elephant, buffalo, giraffe, flamingos, warthogs, antelopes, zebra’s, blue monkeys and sometimes a rare leopard or hyena.

Meet your professional tour guide/driver at around 8:30am and travel west to the Arusha National Park. This small but beautiful Tanzanian National Park is the closest national park to both Moshi town, the famous Arusha “safari town” (40 km) as well as the Kilimanjaro International Airport, thus making it ideal for 1-day safaris or tours.

Not only is the animal life in the park abundant, but it is also one of the most beautiful and topographically varied parks in Tanzania. The park’s three most significant features include the rugged Mount Meru (Tanzania’s second highest peak at 4566m), the notably different colored Momela Lakes, and the 3km wide Ngurdoto Crater, which was formed about fifteen million years ago!

We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do a morning and afternoon game drive, visiting both the Momela Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater. Wildlife which could be seen include African buffalos, elephants, hippos, giraffe, warthogs, antelopes, zebras, blue monkeys and sometimes a rare leopard or hyena. Later in the afternoon we depart for Moshi where we will end our safari adventure. The group should tip the tours guide around $ 20 to $ 30 for the day. You will be taken to your hotel, which ends our tour package services.

Mkomazi National Park

A diverse and picturesque African wildlife sanctuary. The Reserve covers an area of 3,700 sq. km. protected on its Northern border by Tsavo National Park in Kenya. The park represents species and ecosystems not commonly found in East Africa making it an unusual alternative or addition to a Northern Circuit safari.

Moshi – Mkomazi National Park – Moshi

Travel time: 2½ hours – 2½ hours

Distance: 215 km – 215 km

Meet your professional tour guide/driver at around 8:00am after which we travel east to the Mkomazi National Park. Upon arrival to the park we will enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch inside the park.

There is a wide variety of flora and fauna with 78 species of mammals including elephant, kudu, hartebeest, giraffe and aardwolf. Endangered African wild dog and black rhino have been introduced to Mkomazi with the aid of the George Adamson/Tony Fitz John African wildlife Preservation Trust. There are approximately 450 recorded species of birds in Mkomazi, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise. The park represents species and ecosystems not commonly found in East Africa making it an unusual alternative or addition to a Northern Circuit safari. Later in the afternoon we depart for Moshi where we will end the safari adventure. The group should tip the tours guide around $ 20 to $ 30 for the day. Kilimanjaro National Park

Kilimanjaro National Park is home to the highest free standing mountain in the world and the highest mountain in Africa! We arrange guided one day hikes up Kilimanjaro through the forest section of the Marangu route. Please take note good views of Kilimanjaro, depend on clear skies around the mountain. We are flexible to arrange longer 2 day / 1 night trips as well on request.

Travel time: 1 hour – 1 hour

Distance: 42 km – 42 km

Meet your guide in Moshi at around 08:30am and transfer to the Marangu gate.

Upon registering with park authorities, the climb will officially commence with a four-hour walk (approximately 8,1km) to the Mandara encampment (2,750m). Hikers will pass through a thick rainforest zone, where there is a high chance of rain in the afternoon. Halfway to Mandara camp, the hiking party will stop and enjoy a picnic lunch. On arrival to Mandara camp, hikers can walk around the campsite and take a short rest before starting the hike back to the Marangu gate. They will meet up with the driver and return to Moshi town. Depending on the time available and hiker’s fitness levels, the guide may turn around before reaching the Mandara huts.

 

Materuni Village Cultural Tourism

Materuni is the home of the Chagga tribe and is still an authentic tribal village. This charming place is just 15km away from Moshi town and the village nearly border’s the Kilimanjaro National Park.

Travel time: 15 minutes – 15 minutes

Distance: 15 km – 15 km

Meet your guide in Moshi town at around 08:30am and transfer to the Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office and your trip will begin.

First you will visit the 80 meter high waterfalls, which are around a 40 minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breath-taking, and if the skies are clear you will be able to see the summit of Kilimanjaro. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swimwear, if interested in swimming. After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return to the Materuni village. Enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch and taste the local banana beer – definitely not to be missed!

After lunch you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances – a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye and return in the afternoon to Moshi, you can savour the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest.

Olpopongi Maasai Cultural village

Moshi – West Kilimanjaro – Moshi

Meet your guide in Moshi town at around 08:30am and transfer to the Western Kilimanjaro. You will spend the day at the authentic Maasai Village, Olpopongi Maasai Cultural village.

You can expect to visit the Museum, do a village Tour, eat a traditional lunch and enjoy a short walking safari in the Maasai territory. During the visit you will also learn more about Maasai hunting techniques & natural Maasai medicine.
