DAY 1ARUSHA / NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA After breakfast you are met by our professional tours guide/driver, who will deliver a short safari information briefing, after which, we travel to the Ngorongoro Crater, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After an early lunch we descend 600m into this magnificent crater national park, for an afternoon game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded game areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 African animals including some of Tanzania's last remaining black rhino. Another big draw to this picturesque conservation area is it dense population of predators and carnivores, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever elusive leopard. Dinner and overnight on the Ngorongoro Crater rim, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested. DAY 2
NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA / SERENGETI PLAINS After an early breakfast, we once again descend 600m into this magnificent crater, for a morning game drive. Supported by a year round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a unbelievable variety of Africa animals, which include vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, giant Africa elephants and a small population of black rhino. Enjoy lunch before we head towards the Serengeti Plains with a stopover at Olduvai Gorge, the famous archaeological site. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa and Tanzania - the Serengeti National Park - with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We travel to the northern Serengeti / Lobo area. The Lobo Hills are probably the most conventional scenic part of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, with all its rolling hills and massive granite outcrops. The area supports a rich variety of resident animals and it has retained a tangible wilderness character, interrupted annually only by the passing wildebeest migration parade. Dinner and overnight at the Lobo Wildlife Lodge, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested. DAY 3SERENGETI PLAINS After breakfast we enjoy a game drive in the Lobo area. There is a nice game-drive circuit to the east of the Lobo Wildlife Lodge, whose waterholes attract a variety of African wildlife. Non-migrating game like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion and a variety of other predators and carnivores can be seen here all year round. The game viewing is very good and you can follow game for long periods without seeing any other vehicles - truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti Plains. The exceptionally large lion prides are a unique feature of this area. After a late lunch at the Lobo Wildlife Lodge we travel towards the central Serengeti Park area, known as the Seronera area. This is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracting wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti's species in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested. DAY 4SERENGETI PLAINS / LAKE NDUTU We do an after breakfast game viewing drive along the Seronera River Circuit, which starts at the Seronera Hippo Pool and follows the river in a westerly direction. This rewarding circuit offers possible sightings of hippo, lion, leopard, crocodiles, giraffe, waterbuck, vervet monkeys and various other African animals, including many African birds. The Visitor Center close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites, is well worth a visit after the morning's game drive. This nicely designed center offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The center also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center in the shade of the giant acacia trees. Today is our last day in the Serengeti National Park and on our way out of the park, we will do a game drive in the Simba Kopjes area. The kopjes are named after the lions, which frequently use these kopjes to just lie and bath in the sun. You may also possibly see baboon, giraffe and some interesting birdlife in this area. From here we will head to Lake Ndutu, which is alkaline, but like most of the other Rift lakes, still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. Dinner and overnight in the Ndutu Safari Lodge, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested. DAY 5LAKE NDUTU / LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK We will do an early morning game drive in the Lake Ndutu area, which offers quite a change from the vast open plains of the Serengeti Plains. The area is usually heavy populated with elephant and birds, as well as a good variety of resident plains game. After lunch, we depart early afternoon for the Lake Manyara area to overnight. DAY 6LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK / ARUSHA After breakfast we travel into the Lake Manyara National Park. The park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of African animals, including one of Africa's densest concentrations of elephants, Manyara's famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do an exciting morning and afternoon game drive, in search of the tree-climbing lions. Late afternoon we depart for Arusha where we will end our safari adventure. The group should tip the guide around $20 a day. You will be taken to your hotel, which ends our safari services.
